THE ONTARIO LAWYERS’ ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

Health & Wellness

Services that reflect our preventative approach to your well-being.

Nutrition Support Services

Need to boost your energy levels?  Concerned about Type II diabetes?  Is coffee and a doughnut a balanced diet to you?

The Nutrition Support Services offer a proactive self-care approach to wellness. Shepell.fgi Consultants will help you make positive changes to your diet by examining the underlying issues associated with weight loss/gain, eating routines and lifestyle changes. Their solutions include a self-directed package of useful tips, information and resources as well as professional consultation with a Registered Dietician in more complex situations.

Smoking Cessation

Become a life-long quitter!  If you've tried to quit smoking, you know how hard it can be.  Connect to the extra support you need with Shepell.fgi's two options in smoking cessation.

The telephone-based counselling program is delivered by a certified smoking cessation counsellor who helps you problem-solve difficult situations and offers support.  The program includes an initial assessment, four counselling sessions, one booster session and four aftercare sessions.  You also receive a participant handbook with exercises that will help you refine your new skills and incorporate them into your daily routine.

The interactive and personlized online program is designed with six major milestones to help you quit. The program includes a Nicotine Dependency Test and Quit Meter that tracks your quit date, smoke-free days, money saved and life gained! You also have access to an online support group moderated by health care professionals.

Online Stress Management

The online stress management tool measures six factors of 'stressful experience' - the most significant causes, effects and other symptoms of stress that have been identified and distilled through years of clinical experience.  The six areas examined by this tool are: job disengagement, personal & social difficulties, work-life conflict, job overload, physical stress and intellectual stress.

By scanning your scores and reviewing the resources available in these six areas, counsellors can help you can get back on track with regards to stress. Stress Management will point you in the direction of setting goals and taking action to address root causes of stress.

Whether you need answers to simple health questions or worry that your symptoms point to something more serious, there is help available. Get information and reassurance by telephone, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
