- Set priorities and goals and check your progress regularly.
- Delegate
- Trust your intuition – if it says no, say no!
- Find mentors
- Don't isolate – develop networks.
- Set office hours and stick to them!
- Take at least 4 weeks vacation per year.
- Don't work during your vacation.
- Take care of your physical, emotional and spiritual self.
- Don't be afraid to ask for help.
- Don't buy the Mercedes if the Volkswagen will do the job.
- Find time to do service.
- Keep all solicitor-client relationships professional.
- Don't take on your clients' problems.
- Learn to pat yourself on the back.
- Don't do work for family or friends.
- Watch for danger signals like anger and resentment.
- Love what you do and do what you love.
- Be true to yourself.
- Be your own best friend.
