| THE ONTARIO LAWYERS’ ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
Trying to Keep Up
John is a sole practitioner. He is overwhelmed with all that is happening around him. He has a busy general practice with an administrative assistant and a part-time bookkeeper. He spends his day running from court to client appointments to returning telephone messages to checking e-mails. Adding to the pressure is John’s recognition that he needs to improve his communications with clients.
His children are in soccer and he tries to get to as many games as possible. He enjoys going out to dinner with his wife but these occasions have been few and far between. He has not done much exercise lately and feels run down. Lunches are eaten on the run.
He feels isolated and has no one to talk to. Everyone else is as busy as he is with their own responsibilities and problems. He would really like to have someone to talk to every now and then who understands. He calls OLAP to speak to a peer support volunteer who will lend a sympathetic ear and understanding. He also looks at the Web site – www.olap.ca. With that added support, things are still hectic but manageable.
